This car was a bright red Ford Festiva. Probably one of the smallest cars ever made. My girls and I used to pack ourselves into that tiny little car and cruise everywhere for some driving experience. She called me later that day to share the news, and we decided that day that “the red roller skate” was our “single days” car. It was small and could not accommodate any of our new lifestyles. It could handle the rough riding, it could handle the weight…But it could not handle being replaced by a man, being driven by a man, and by god, it was not gonna transport any children..And to think we always called the car a girl!
