There are already a number of porcelain figurines offered in the market today. They come in different styles, compositions and price. However, what sets hummels figurines apart from the rest is its history.
Hummel figurines were derived from the illustrations of a lady named Berta Hummel. She graduated on top of her class in art school but decided to spend the rest of her life serving God as a nun. This is where she obtained the name Maria Innocentia. Her drawings of playful and innocent children then inspired the creation of porcelain figurines by Frank Goebel.
The first creations sent to America primarily served as symbol of hope for it was the time of depression. Today, these figurines are now considered as rare antiques and are very difficult to find. A new company which adapted Hummel figurines is now manufacturing new items. However, you may find it still pricey because of its limited edition.
